Week of April 13th: Worries
-What is a worry? We all have worries. Everyone is scared of something. It is okay to have worries!

Week of April 20th: Kindness
-We have been practicing all year to complete random acts of kindness. When we do something kind for someone, we fill their invisible bucket. When we fill someone's bucket, our bucket gets filled too! When we dip from someone's bucket, we also dip from our own bucket.
-Our goal is to be bucket fillers, not bucket dippers!

Week of April 27th: Coping Skills
-What is a coping skill? A coping skill is something you do that helps you calm down when you have strong feelings such as feeling mad, angry, sad, or frustrated.

Week of May 4th: Coping Skills Continued
-This week we are reviewing coping skills. One helpful coping skill is to be mindful; be present in the moment and only focus on what you are doing right now.
-Take a mindful walk outside (With parent/ guardian permission!)

-This week you will be watching a read aloud on the book I Can Handle It! This book focuses on a lot of different problems that occur everyday.

Remember that each person has their own personal space bubble, including you! We don't like people to enter our bubble unless they ask first. Examples when other people may enter your personal space bubble is when you give a high five or a hug.

September Lesson:
Students will learn and understand my role as the school counselor

-How to reach me

I will be reading to the class the book called The Way I Feel by Janan Cain.

October Lesson:
We read the book Puppy Mind. Students completed a relaxing puppy coloring sheet. Lastly, we reviewed various emotions and played a matching feelings game.

November Lesson:
We will be reading the book It's Okay To Be Different by Todd Parr. Students will be coming up with their own way that their are unique or different and drawing a picture/ writing sentences about it. Students will also work on a mindfulness coloring activity about diversity. Lastly, each student will complete a puzzle piece about what makes them diverse. All puzzle pieces will be put together and displayed for the school.

December Lesson:
We read Ollie's School Day and discussed the importance of making good choices at school. Students identified good choices that they make each day. We played a matching game of feeling words and concluded our lesson by drawing a feeling of their choice.

January Lesson:
We had a class discussion on the feeling of anger. Students identified different times that they have felt angry. Students also were able to draw ways to calm down when feeling angry; taking a drink of water, exercising, taking a break; eating a snack.

February Lesson:
This month we focused on Zones of Regulation- where we discussed the different colors of the four zones (red, blue, green, and yellow) and the emotions associated with each zone. We also made links to add to our kindness chain in the hallway.

March Lesson:
This month we read the book Don't Eat the Teacher and discussed self-control and making good choices here at school. Students decorated their own shark paper and came up with a good choice that they make at school. We also discussed germs and how we can prevent them from spreading. (Washing hands, not sharing food, etc).
