Lauren BortfeldHello everyone!
I hope all of you had a great summer. My name is Lauren Bortfeld and I am the Spanish 1 and 2 teacher here at Porter. I went to the University of Mary Washington where I received a B.A. in Spanish and my Master's of Education. I just came back from teaching in Argentina and I am very much looking forward to teaching all of my students what I have learned during my time in South America. Hello everyone! Please look at this link to see what your child has learned so far in my class:
Spanish 2 Pacing Guide
There are no VA SOL standards for Spanish class, so PWCS has a curriculum we follow. Highlighted in yellow are the items of instruction I did NOT teach yet. As of right now I will be doing review activities related to things I've taught already. They will be posted on Edmodo.

And here is a link to the VA standards that we follow. We don't have SOL standards like in your other classes, but these are standards that are repeated frequently in every unit we teach.
World Language Standards (look at pages 15-17 for Spanish 2 standards)

In addition, if you see a blank grade in your gradebook for a specific assignment, this means I do NOT have that assignment from you. You can do the travel project on your own time, but if you need to make up a quiz, watch for a message on Edmodo that I will send you this week with information on how to make up that quiz. You will not be able to use outside resources during the quiz.
Click on the link below for all of the notes I gave you throughout Marking Period 3, as well as the instructions for the travel project if you have not turned it in:
Marking Period 3 Notes

In addition, here are some resources you can use to practice outside of what I am posting on Edmodo for you:
Unite For Literacy (Spanish version)
Duolingo for Schools
Project Gutenburg
Easy Spanish
Spanish Language Choice Board (Feel free to send me your products and I can give feedback!)

3/16/2020
Good morning everyone! So I have been getting emails about the exams and make-up work, rightfully so. This week, I will NOT be administering exams/make up work. This week will be about practicing for the exams, which I hope to give to you next week. As the days go on, I will work on giving you more concrete dates in regards to when your exams will be/ what it will entail. In the meantime, look at Edmodo for practice work/resources you can use during the week. Remember, in order to use language you have to keep practicing! Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Stay safe and healthy!
