    Hello Porter Parents! Missing my friends this past week! I hope everyone is staying safe and getting some family time in! Don't forget about the Flipgrid for my class to post videos to keep in touch with myself and their classmates. The Flipcode is: notesformiller I have created a ZOOM account. You can download the app or go to the website on a desktop or laptop computer. I wanted to give it a try tomorrow, March 23rd at 10:30 am to see everyone and have a read aloud. It may take some work to log onto ZOOM and get everything working, but if you'd like to have your student join me for a read aloud here is the link: Zoom Read Aloud The meeting ID is: 753 635 8003 I hope to see some smiling faces!     Good morning Porter Parents! As we navigate this time together, I hope to provide you with as many resources and activities as I can to help support you in this process of virtual learning over the next few weeks. As I receive more guidance from the county, I will keep you up to date with my ideas for at home learning. For now, please read with your children and begin working on the reading assignments I have provided yesterday. Please continue to check my webpage for links and updates as well. I hope to send out further instruction on Monday. Unfortunately, we are experiencing technical difficulties with our copiers this week and I am not sure when I will be able to copy the study guide in time.     Happy March Porter Parents! We have been super busy here in room 105 these past few weeks! Whew! Here is what we are learning next week! Click here to find out what's going on at Porter! We kicked off our 2020 Pennies for Patients program today! Students will be coming home with their own collection bag and a flyer explaining all of the exciting Hero Gear items that students can receive by collecting money in their bag.  This year, we are also encouraging students to set up an online page to receive donations, so that our school can make our biggest impact ever for the Mission of LLS.  Join our Porter Squad by clicking on the link below.  Porter Pennies for Patients

    Happy Friday Porter Parents! I have updated the files page with next weeks standards and objectives. But if you would prefer, here is the link! I have created assignments on Study Island to practice math concepts. I have sent home each students' login cards inside agendas tonight. This is a perfect resource to practice previously taught concepts or new concepts at home. You can find a link to Study Island on my Clever page as well as under Useful Links (Class work) on my webpage. Please let me know if you have any questions about using Study Island at home! There is no school on Monday for George Washington Day (President's Day).  Thank you to all the friends who shared their kindness to their classmates and myself today.     ​Happy Monday Porter Patriots! We are officially on our way into the 3rd quarter. I cannot believe how quickly this school year is FLYING by!  Tomorrow report cards go home! Yay! If you have any questions about grades or any concerns, please email me so we can meet. The conference date has passed, however, I am flexible and I'M ALL ABOUT THE KIDS! :)  Here is what we are learning this week! Don't forget that the matter test is on Tuesday, February 4 and our famous American test is on Friday, February 7. Here are some KAHOOTS to help you study! Matter Kahoot Famous Americans Kahoot  2nd annual Maker Tech night is quickly approaching. This year it will be held on February 25th at 6-7:30.     Happy Tuesday Porter Patriots! I have created a SIGN-UP GENIUS for mid-year conferences. If you are interested in meeting with me and none of these times work for you, I am flexible! Please just email me with dates and times that you are available and we will figure it out.  Reading tests: We took our second reading test today. Please check the parent portal to check grades. Students who received an S- or an N on any of the four strands will be provided with a new test to retake by Friday. Please continue to review the study guides at home, utilize iStation, and IXL to help prepare for the retake. Again, the standard that needs to be worked on is located on the portal.  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

    Happy Friday Porter Patriots! We survived a full week back to school after winter break!  This week was jam packed with learning to make up for the time we lost with the snow days and delays. Next week we will be finishing up the quarter and getting ready to start the 3rd marking period. I cannot believe how quickly this school year is flying by! Room 105 is learning so much and is really learning how to be the best scholars and citizens in and out of the classroom.  If you would like to know what we are learning next week, click HERE!  Study guides for the Language Arts test were distributed on Tuesday. Students should use the extra day over the weekend to prepare for the test on Tuesday, January 21st.  Don't forget: There is no school on Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day! Mid-year conferences are coming up! If you are interested in meeting with me to discuss your child's growth, please use this SIGN-UP GENIUS. If these times do not work for you and you are interested in a conference, please email me to schedule an appointment.  Tomorrow is the Porter Ice Skating Night! Start your long weekend with a night of family fun and ice skating! Invite all of your family and even your friends!  It should be an exciting time! Ice Skate Spirit Night Saturday, January 18th, 2020 6:30pm to 8:00pm Prince William Ice Center Pre-paid tickets are $10 Tickets at the door are $11 IMPORTANT NOTE:  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
