Week of: February 13 - 17
We are beginning our second week in the third quarter and have had 2 test already! Students must stay focused because time is moving fast. The SOLs will be here before you know it.
The following are upcoming events and tests:
Math Benchmark (No Study Guide) - 2/16
President's Day (No School) - 2/20
Electricity IA - 2/22
Science Benchmark - 3/2
In Math, we have begun our Decimals Unit. We will begin with reading and writing decimals, and rounding decimals. Decimals cover Chapter 8 in our Math Connects Math Book. All students have a username and password for the online book. Students are struggling with the concepts that we have been covering. It is imperative that students practice their math facts daily.
In Language Arts, we will continue to review Drawing Conclusions and Making Inferences, in addition to, Elements of Fiction. We, also, will continue SOL reviewing. Don’t forget to complete your Weekly Reading Log. It is now due on every other Monday. Students can download a copy from home or take one from the tray in the classroom.
In Social Studies, we will begin to study Virginia in the Civil War. In Science, we have begun our unit on Electricity. Students should be bringing home their Social Studies and Science binders daily.
4th Grade Snacks
Due to our late lunch schedule, fourth grade will have a morning snack. All students may bring in a snack each day for themselves. No sharing! Snacks should be healthy, quick & easy to eat, and should not be stored in the classroom overnight. Some examples of healthy snacks would be fruits, vegetables, pretzels or granola bars. Water ONLY. Please be aware that some days we may need to forfeit snack due to a busy schedule.
Take a minute to sign up to donate water bottles to the classroom. Receive a volunteer hour for each water bottle donation for a maximum of 3 hours. (3 cases for 3 hours)
