I'm very excited to be starting my ninth full year of teaching seventh grade math here at Porter.  Seventh Mr. DenneyGrade Extended Math, which all of my seventh grade students will be taking, is designed to complete student understanding of the middle school math curriculum and prepare students for high school math.  Students will take the Eighth Grade Math SOL Test at the end of the year.  Students who master the course material will be enrolled in Algebra next year.

Because the classes students will take in high school are more specialized -- like Algebra and Geometry -- this is likely to be the last "general" math class they take.  In addition to traditional pre-Algebra topics like functions and the Pythagorean Theorem, it includes real-world math like discounts, percent of change, probability, and statistics.   Virtual learning is going to be an adventure for all of us, and I am looking forward to riding it with all of you!

I am always happy to answer any questions you have about the year ahead.  Please e-mail me at DenneyMJ@pwcs.edu.
