Prince William County schools has announced the five educators selected to participate in the inaugural Principal Residency Program for the 2026-27 school year.
The job-embedded leadership experience is designed to develop the next generation of school leaders through guided mentorship, real-world principal responsibilities and instructional learning aligned with the school system’s Elevate 2030 strategic plan, according to a school system news release.
The principal residency program places aspiring principals in a year-long residency alongside experienced principal mentors.

Dr. Lewis is honored to join the Porter community as a Resident Principal. With more than twenty years of experience in education, she has served as a teacher, university professor, instructional specialist, and school and division administrator. Across each of these roles, her focus has remained the same: helping students thrive and supporting educators in their growth. Dr. Lewis most recently served as assistant principal at Lake Ridge Elementary School. Prior to Lake Ridge, she served as assistant principal at Saunders Middle School for five years, and she also served as an elementary summer school principal. She started her career as an English teacher at Charlottesville High School. Dr. Lewis earned a bachelor's degree in English from Spelman College, a master's degree in English/English Education from the University of South Florida, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Florida. Go Gators! When she's not at school, Dr. Lewis enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, Markus, and their dog, Blue, and finding her next challenge on the Peloton. |
